Course Description

The Master of Arts (M.A.) is a two-year postgraduate programme designed to provide advanced knowledge, analytical abilities, research skills and professional competencies in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

The programme is proposed in accordance with the broad principles of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with emphasis on multidisciplinary education, critical thinking, research, digital learning, field-based experience, communication and independent study.

Students develop a deeper understanding of their chosen discipline through advanced theoretical study, seminars, research methodology, practical assignments, fieldwork and dissertation writing. The programme aims to prepare learners for higher education, research, teaching-related pathways (subject to eligibility), public service, professional careers and entrepreneurship.

Important NEP 2020 provision: NEP 2020 provides flexibility for a two-year Master's programme for students who have completed a three-year Bachelor's degree. It also envisages the possibility of a research-focused second year. The final design must be adopted by the degree-awarding university.
